How do I apply W7 Tar and Glue Remover?
Shake the bottle well, then spray W7 directly onto a buffing cloth rather than straight onto the panel. Wipe the affected area gently and allow the product to dwell for a maximum of 1-2 minutes. Follow up by wiping away with a clean MF1 microfibre and rinsing the area with water. Always work in a well-ventilated area, out of direct sunlight, and wear gloves.
Is W7 safe to use on Gtechniq ceramic coatings?
Yes. W7 is specifically formulated to be compatible with the Gtechniq coating range. You can use it on coated paintwork during routine decon without worrying about stripping or compromising the ceramic layer.
Can I use W7 on uncoated paint?
Yes. W7 works on both Gtechniq coated and uncoated paint surfaces. It removes tar contamination without tarnishing the finish either way. Test on an inconspicuous area first, as with any solvent-based product.
Is W7 safe on PPF, vinyl wraps or smart repairs?
No. W7 is NOT suitable for use on PPF, smart repairs, wrapped vehicles or aftermarket painted surfaces. The solvent formula can damage these materials. Stick to factory or professionally coated paintwork only.
What surfaces should I avoid when using W7?
Keep W7 away from decals, plastics, headlights and rear lenses, rubber and vinyl. If any overspray lands on these areas, wipe it off immediately. The product is for painted body panels only.
How long should I let W7 dwell on the tar spot?
Allow W7 to dwell for a maximum of 1 to 2 minutes. There is no benefit to leaving it longer, and on sensitive surfaces a shorter dwell is safer. Once the tar has softened, remove the product with a clean microfibre and rinse with water.
Should I use W7 before or after a decontamination wash?
W7 fits best after your initial wash, as part of your decon stage before paint correction or coating application. Remove the bulk of loose dirt first, then target tar spots with W7, followed by iron fallout remover and clay if needed.
Can W7 remove adhesive residue from badges or stickers?
Yes. Beyond road tar, W7 is effective on glue and adhesive residue left by stickers, badges or old tape on painted surfaces. Apply with a cloth, allow a short dwell, and wipe away. Avoid contact with surrounding plastics or rubber trim during the process.
