Easily the best cutting pad I've ever used. For years I stuck within the Rupes ecosystem but the shape of the UFO pad really has changed the game. Far less stalling when getting to tight curves and even a 5 inch pad can tackle some steep contours. Matched with Zvizzer compounds or Koch Chemie, and you're golden. Good-bye Rupes compounds and pads.

Grey is Zvizzer's cutting grade in the UFO range. It is the most aggressive of the UFO hardness levels and is designed for removing heavy swirls, deeper scratches and paint defects that lighter pads cannot cut through efficiently.
The 5-inch UFO Grey fits a standard 5-inch (125 mm) Velcro backing plate. It works on dual-action random orbital polishers as well as forced-rotation machines. The PU layer and thermostable foam help it handle the higher heat and torque that forced-rotation polishers generate.
Zvizzer specifically developed the UFO Pads for their One-Step Speed Polish. That said, the open-cell foam and PU layer make it compatible with most quality cutting compounds. Start with the product recommendation from your compound manufacturer and adjust speed and pressure from there.
The symmetrical oval taper distributes pressure more evenly across the foam face and lets polish flow off the bevelled edge cleanly instead of accumulating at the rim. This eliminates the hard-edge holograms and burn marks you can get with flat pads, particularly on curved panels.
The integrated polyurethane layer sits between the foam and the Velcro plate. It stops liquid polish from wicking down into the hook-and-loop attachment, which would otherwise harden the pad, degrade the bond over time and add dead weight. It also spreads pressure more evenly into the foam body.
Yes, especially on longer correction sessions. Standard foam softens as it heats up, which changes the cut behaviour mid-panel. The thermostable formulation in the UFO pad holds its shape and firmness so the pad performs consistently from the first panel to the last, and the open-cell structure moves heat away from the paint surface.
Knock loose compound off the pad face between panels using a pad cleaning brush or compressed air. After the session, rinse with warm water and a drop of pad cleaner, squeeze gently from the centre outward (do not wring it), and leave flat to dry. Avoid prolonged soaking, which can compromise the PU layer bond over time.
The grey cutting pad is designed for the correction stage. Once you have removed the defects, step down to a finishing pad with a fine polish to refine the surface and remove any light marring left by the cutting stage before you apply a ceramic coating, sealant or wax. Never go straight from a cutting pad to a coating without a finishing pass.
