What polishes work best with this pad?
Zvizzer developed the UFO pad range specifically for their One-Step Speed Polish. That said, any medium-bodied one-step or light-to-medium cutting compound that suits a medium foam pad will work. Avoid ultra-heavy cutting compounds - the White is a medium hardness pad, not a heavy-cut foam.
What paint defects can the White pad remove?
Being a medium hardness pad, the White sits in the middle of the UFO range. Expect comfortable removal of light to moderate swirl marks, fine scratches and water-spot etching, especially when paired with a capable one-step polish. Deeper single-track scratches may need a firmer pad or a dedicated cutting stage first.
What is the PU layer and why does it matter?
The integrated polyurethane layer sits between the foam cell and the Velcro backing. It stops polish from soaking into the Velcro, which is the main reason standard foam pads degrade quickly. Keeping the backing clean means the pad stays securely attached and the foam performs consistently for longer.
How do I prime the pad before use?
Apply a small amount of polish - four to six pea-sized dots - across the face of a clean pad before your first pass. Spread at low speed before increasing your working speed. This loads the open-cell foam evenly and prevents the pad from working dry on the first section, which can cause uneven cut.
How do I clean and maintain the pad?
Clean the pad between sections with a pad brush or compressed air to remove spent polish and swarf. Will the bevelled edge cause any finish issues on panel edges and curves?
The bevelled edge is specifically designed to prevent finish issues at the perimeter. Polish flows off the edge rather than building up there, which eliminates the holograms and burn-through risk you can get with a flat-edge pad on body lines, door edges and curved panels.
Can this pad be used with a rotary polisher?
The UFO pad's thermostable foam and heat-dissipating open-cell structure do handle higher temperatures, which is relevant on a rotary. However, Zvizzer designed this pad around DA use. If you run it on a rotary, keep your working speed conservative, use adequate polish lubrication and check the pad temperature regularly to protect both the pad and the clear coat.
