One-Step Finishing

Correct and seal in a single machine pass

P3.01 combines a cut rating of 3.2 with a gloss rating of 9.5, removing holograms and fine scratches mechanically while the built-in carnauba wax and non-fugitive silicones seal and smooth the paint behind the pad. That means fewer steps on the bay and a finished result that genuinely holds up under show lighting.

Why P3.01

Precision polishing built around real results

Every feature in P3.01 serves the finish, not the marketing.

  • Mechanical Defect Removal

Homogenous abrasives eliminate holograms and scratches permanently, not by filling them over.

  • Gloss Rating 9.5

Leaves a brilliant, high-gloss finish that holds up under direct and harsh lighting conditions.

  • Integrated Wax Seal

Carnauba wax and non-fugitive silicones seal and smooth the paint in the same pass as correction.

  • All Paint Systems

Safe on conventional and scratch-resistant clearcoats, across all colours including dark and sensitive shades.

How It Compares

P3.01 vs a typical finishing polish

Most finishing polishes either correct or protect - P3.01 does both simultaneously, and it does the correction mechanically rather than cosmetically. Here is how it stacks up against a standard finishing compound.

Feature DetailerSA Alternative
Removes holograms mechanically Yes No
Built-in carnauba wax protection Yes No
Safe on scratch-resistant clearcoats Yes Yes
Suitable for machine application Yes Yes
Optimised for dark and sensitive colours Yes No
Non-fugitive silicone formula Yes No

Dark Paint Specialist

A finish dark colours can actually show off

Koch-Chemie developed P3.01's homogenous abrasive bodies specifically to perform under extreme light conditions on dark and sensitive shades - the colours that expose every hologram and buffer trail. The result is a permanent, gloss-9.5 finish, not a filled-over one.

Questions

Frequently asked

What machine and pad should I use with P3.01?

Koch-Chemie recommends pairing P3.01 with their Micro Cut Pad on an orbital polisher with forced rotation - the Makita PO5000C at highest speed is specifically recommended. A rotary polisher can also be used in combination with the Micro Cut Pad. Do not use pads that have previously been used with other products.

What defects can P3.01 actually remove?

P3.01 is rated at Cut 3.2 and is formulated to permanently remove holograms, fine scratches, streaks and sanding marks up to P3000 grain size. It eliminates these defects mechanically through its homogenous abrasive bodies - it does not simply fill or mask them.

Is it safe on scratch-resistant and modern clearcoats?

Yes. P3.01 is designed for use on all paint systems, explicitly including scratch-resistant clearcoats. The micro-abrasive formula is refined enough to work on sensitive surfaces without introducing new marring.

Does P3.01 leave any protection behind, or do I need a separate sealant?

The product contains carnauba wax and non-fugitive silicones that provide simultaneous long-term sealing and smoothness as you polish. For clients who want a durable ceramic or polymer layer on top, you can apply a dedicated sealant or coating after the P3.01 step has fully cured - just ensure the surface is clean and free of silicone bloom before coating.

How do I apply the polish correctly?

Before you start, fully moisten a dried or new pad with polish. With the machine switched off, distribute the polish evenly across the section to be treated. Work crosswise with medium pressure, then finish with a final pass at low pressure. Remove residue with a non-chainstitched, ultrasonically cut microfibre cloth to avoid scratching.

What shades and colours is P3.01 best suited to?

P3.01 is particularly recommended for dark and similarly sensitive colours where holograms and fine scratches are most visible under intense lighting. The high gloss rating of 9.5 means it leaves a brilliant finish that holds up even under harsh light conditions. It works on all colours, but dark paint benefits most from its hologram-elimination properties.

Can P3.01 be used by hand, or does it require a machine?

The product is formulated as a machine micro-polish. Koch-Chemie specifically recommends an orbital polisher with forced rotation or a rotary polisher. Hand application would not generate sufficient heat and movement to activate the abrasives properly or achieve the intended level of correction and gloss.

Can I use P3.01 under a ceramic coating?

P3.01 contains non-fugitive silicones, which means they do not outgas or migrate over time - however, you should still properly degrease and panel-wipe the surface after polishing and before applying any ceramic coating. This removes any wax and silicone residue that could interfere with ceramic bonding and adhesion.
