What pad types work with the Universal Pad Washer Bucket?
The bucket is designed for universal compatibility, so foam cutting and polishing pads, microfibre pads and wool pads all work. As long as your pad fits within the bucket opening, you can spin and rinse it without any issues.
Do I need a machine polisher attached to use it, or can I rinse by hand?
You can use it either way. Most detailers attach the pad to a DA or rotary, dip it into water in the bucket and run the machine at low speed to spin the residue out. You can also rinse by hand if you prefer - the bucket works as a straightforward rinse basin too.
How much water do I fill it with?
You do not need to fill it to the 25L maximum. Most users fill it roughly a third to half way, which is enough to submerge the pad face and let the spinning action throw out the loaded product. Top up or replace the water when it gets heavily saturated with compound or polish.
Can I use soap or a cleaning solution in the bucket?
Yes. A small amount of car shampoo or pad-cleaning solution in the water helps break down oil-based polishes and glazes more effectively than plain water alone. Rinse the pad in clean water afterwards if you are moving from a cutting stage to a finishing stage.
Will it damage my pads if I spin them at high speed inside the bucket?
The bucket is sized to give the pad clearance during spinning. Keep the machine at a low to medium speed setting when cleaning - high RPM is not necessary and can cause the pad to slap the bucket walls, which may stress the pad backing over time.
