LHR21ES Random Orbital Polisher RUPES.

Built for correction

Big orbit, big results on large panels

The RUPES LHR21ES BigFoot runs a Ø21mm orbit, the sweet spot for detailers who need to remove heavy defects across large surface areas without spending the whole day doing it. Paired with the Ø150mm BigFoot backing pad and the right cutting foam, it chews through swirl marks, oxidation and buffer trails efficiently, then refines to a finish that needs no apology.

Why the LHR21ES

Everything a correction machine should be

Aggressive enough to cut, refined enough to finish.

  • 21mm Cutting Orbit

The Ø21mm orbit moves more compound across the surface per pass, cutting heavy defects faster than a smaller orbit machine.

  • Low Vibration Design

The perfectly balanced machine body keeps vibration minimal so you can maintain consistent pressure across large panels without fatigue.

  • Antispinning Protection

The dual-function shroud shields the operator from moving parts and acts as a clutch to prevent sudden pad spin-up.

  • Impeccable Finish

True random orbital motion refines as it corrects, leaving a high-gloss, swirl-free result when paired with BigFoot finishing pads.

How it compares

LHR21ES vs a typical budget random orbital

Not all random orbital polishers are equal. Here is how the LHR21ES stacks up against a generic budget DA polisher in the areas that actually matter for paint correction.

LHR21ES Random Orbital Polisher RUPES.

Engineered to last

A machine designed for the people using it

RUPES put real engineering time into balance, vibration and ergonomics so that the LHR21ES does not beat you up during an all-day correction. The perfectly balanced body, quiet motor and practical handgrip mean less fatigue at panel six than at panel one, and the antispinning shroud keeps both the operator and the paint protected throughout.

Questions

Frequently asked

What orbit size does the LHR21ES use?

The LHR21ES runs a Ø21mm orbit. That is one of the larger orbits in the BigFoot random orbital range, which is why it cuts faster than a 12mm or 15mm machine across broad panels like bonnets, roofs and doors.

What backing pad and foam pad sizes does it take?

The LHR21ES uses a Ø150mm RUPES BigFoot backing pad. It is compatible with RUPES BigFoot 150mm and 180mm foam polishing pads. Stick to RUPES BigFoot pads to get the cut and finish the machine is calibrated for.

Can a beginner use the LHR21ES, or is it only for professionals?

Random orbital machines are the safest class of polisher to learn on because the pad freewheels and cannot burn paint the way a rotary can. That said, the 21mm orbit is aggressive. If you are new to machine polishing, take care on edges and thin paint, keep the machine moving, and start with a lighter cutting compound before stepping up to heavy compounds.

What is the antispinning shroud and why does it matter?

The antispinning shroud serves two purposes. First, it acts as a physical guard between the operator and the moving backing plate. Second, it functions as a clutch mechanism for the pad. If the pad stalls against the paint surface, the shroud engages to prevent sudden spin-up, protecting both the paint and the operator.

Which cutting compounds and polishes work best with this machine?

The LHR21ES is engineered around the RUPES BigFoot compound and polish system. RUPES Zephir Gloss, Keramik Gloss, and Quarz compounds are all matched to the 21mm orbit. That said, it will run most quality DA-compatible compounds and polishes from other brands without issue.

Is the LHR21ES suitable for applying ceramic coatings or sealants?

It can be used with a finishing foam and a light finishing polish as the final refining step before coating, but the machine itself is a correction tool. For actual coating application, hand application or a dedicated low-speed applicator is the correct approach. The LHR21ES is primarily a paint correction machine.

How does a random orbital differ from a dual-action or rotary polisher?

A random orbital backing plate orbits around an offset axis and is also free to rotate about its own centre, but the rotation is driven purely by centrifugal force and friction, not a gear. This means the pad speed and direction vary continuously, which dramatically reduces the risk of burn-through compared to a rotary. It is more aggressive than a forced-rotation dual-action but safer than a straight rotary, making it the practical choice for most correction work.

What finish can I expect after using the LHR21ES?

With the correct compound-and-pad combination you can remove heavy swirls, RDS scratches and oxidation in one or two passes, then refine to a high-gloss, haze-free finish using a finishing polish on a soft foam. The balanced machine body and low vibration make it easier to maintain consistent pad pressure, which translates directly to a more even, refined result across large panels.
