What is the difference between the four pad colours?
White is the most aggressive - use it with a cutting compound to remove sanding scratches, deep scratches and oxidised paint. Orange is a versatile heavy polishing pad that spans light compounding through to swirl removal. Black is a finishing-cut pad for removing light swirl marks with a finishing polish. Blue is the softest grade, suited to final polish, glaze or wax application for maximum gloss.
What machines are these pads compatible with?
The Waffle Pro Pads are straight-cut foam pads sized for use with dual-action (DA) polishers and rotary machines in OEM and body-shop applications. Match the pad diameter to your backing plate as you would any foam pad - typically leaving 5-10 mm of pad overhang beyond the plate.
How does the waffle texture actually reduce heat?
The convoluted (wavy) surface creates channels between the pad and the paint, allowing air to circulate underneath while you buff. This dissipates friction heat faster than a flat foam pad, which helps protect both the paint and the pad's foam structure during extended correction passes.
Why does the waffle design prevent pad skipping?
Standard flat foam can create suction and drag that causes the pad to skip or chatter across the surface. The convoluted foam breaks up that suction, reducing surface friction so the pad runs flat and the operator maintains consistent contact and control throughout the pass.
Which compounds and polishes should I pair with each colour?
Pair the white pad with a heavy cutting compound for maximum correction. Orange works well with medium cutting compounds and all-in-one polishes. Black suits finishing polishes where you need to refine the surface and clear light swirl marks. Blue is best with glazes, finishing polishes and waxes - anything applied to an already-corrected surface.
How do I prime the pad before use?
Apply a few dots of product directly to the pad face and spread it across the surface before placing the pad on the paint. This prevents the dry foam from absorbing the compound unevenly on the first pass. For rotary use, start at a low speed to distribute the product before increasing to your working speed.
How do I clean and maintain the pads between uses?
Remove spent compound from the pad face regularly during use with a pad conditioning brush or Velcro brush to keep the foam cutting effectively. After your session, wash the pads by hand with a pad cleaning solution and warm water, working the foam gently to release compound residue. Allow them to air-dry completely before storing flat or face-up.
Are these pads safe on clear coat, PPF and wrapped surfaces?
The foam grades themselves are safe on standard clear coat when used with the correct product pairing and machine settings - the white pad at high rotary speed without a proper compound is always the operator's risk. On PPF and vinyl wraps, use the softer grades (black or blue) with a finishing polish and lower machine speeds, and always do a test spot first. These pads are not recommended for dry correction on PPF without appropriate product lubrication.
