Does the paint need to be corrected before applying Crystal Serum Light?
Yes. Crystal Serum Light locks in whatever finish is underneath it, so any swirl marks, scratches or oxidation will be preserved. Fully correct the paint first, then use the included Panel Wipe to strip all polish oils and residues before coating.
What surfaces can Crystal Serum Light be applied to?
Crystal Serum Light is designed primarily for clear-coated paintwork. It can also be applied over PPF. Avoid applying it directly to raw plastics, rubber trim, or porous surfaces that are not suitable for solvent-based coatings.
How long does Crystal Serum Light take to flash and cure?
Flash time varies with temperature and humidity but is typically a few minutes per panel - watch for the high spots to develop before levelling. Full cure takes around 24 hours, during which the vehicle should stay dry. Hardness continues to build over several days.
How long does the C2 Ceramic Sealant last, and when should I apply it?
C2 Ceramic Sealant offers up to 6 months of protection per application. Use it as a maintenance layer once Crystal Serum Light is fully cured, and reapply it periodically to sustain the hydrophobic performance and slickness of the base coating.
How much coverage does the 50ml of Crystal Serum Light provide?
50ml is sufficient for a full average-sized car, applied in thin, overlapping passes. Larger vehicles such as bakkies and SUVs may require more careful application to stretch coverage. Working in manageable sections helps avoid waste.
Can I apply Crystal Serum Light by machine or is it hand-application only?
Crystal Serum Light is applied by hand using the supplied microfibre cloths. It does not require a machine. Work one panel at a time, spread thinly and evenly, allow to flash, then buff off with a clean cloth before moving to the next section.
Can I layer Crystal Serum Light with other Gtechniq coatings?
Crystal Serum Light is designed to be used as a standalone coating topped with C2 Ceramic Sealant for maintenance, which is included in this kit. If you want to add a top coat such as Gtechniq EXO, ensure Crystal Serum Light is fully cured first.
What gloss and finish should I expect after the coating cures?
