What surfaces is Shield Graphene compatible with?
Shield Graphene is formulated for paint and vinyl wrap surfaces. It is not recommended for bare metal, uncoated plastic trim or glass without a primer prep, so stick to the surfaces CarLayer has engineered it for.
How do I apply Shield Graphene?
Work on a fully decontaminated and corrected surface. Apply a few drops to the included applicator and spread in thin, cross-hatch passes across one panel at a time. Allow the coating to flash before levelling with a clean microfibre. Work in a shaded area between 15-30°C for best results.
What is the flash time and how long does it take to fully cure?
Flash time varies with temperature and humidity, but you will typically see the coating haze within 1-3 minutes, which is your cue to level it. Full cure takes approximately 7 days, during which you should keep the vehicle dry and away from harsh chemicals.
How long does Shield Graphene last?
Shield Graphene is rated for 5-6 years of protection on properly prepared paint and vinyl wrap surfaces. Longevity depends on surface prep, correct application and routine maintenance washing.
Can I apply a second layer of Shield Graphene?
Yes. A second layer increases depth of gloss and adds to overall hardness. Allow the first layer to fully flash and firm up before applying the second coat - typically a minimum of 1-2 hours between layers under good conditions.
Can Shield Graphene be applied over PPF?
Shield Graphene is formulated for paint and vinyl wrap. If your PPF manufacturer confirms compatibility with ceramic and graphene coatings, it can be applied over film, but always do a small test section first and confirm with CarLayer if in doubt.
