Product Description

The Soft99 DiGloss Pitasupo Tyre Sponge is a purpose-built applicator designed to lay tyre dressing down in one smooth, consistent pass without flicking product onto your wheels or brake components.

Ideal for:

- Applying liquid and gel tyre dressings to sidewalls

- Detailers who want a satin or gloss finish without overspray mess

- Tight wheel arch clearances on lowered or sport fitments

- Weekly maintenance dressing on freshly cleaned tyres

Features

- Contoured foam face that hugs the tyre sidewall for even product transfer

- Dense cell structure holds dressing without oversaturation or dripping

- Compact, ergonomic block that gives you control at any angle

- Compatible with water-based and solvent-based tyre dressings

- Suitable for all tyre widths and profile heights

For best results, apply to a clean, dry tyre. Load the sponge with a small amount of dressing, press gently against the sidewall and work in overlapping strokes around the circumference. Buff off any excess for a satin finish, or leave for a high-gloss look depending on the product used.

Questions

Frequently asked

What type of tyre dressings can I use with this sponge?

The Pitasupo sponge is compatible with both water-based and solvent-based tyre dressings, including gel and liquid formulas. Just avoid using it with very thin, runny dressings straight from the bottle - decant a small amount onto the sponge face and work from there.

Will this sponge work on all tyre sizes and profiles?

Yes. The compact block shape and contoured foam face conform to most tyre sidewall profiles, from low-profile performance tyres to taller SUV and bakkie sidewalls. The ergonomic grip lets you work at the angle that suits the tyre width.

How do I load the sponge without wasting product?

Squeeze or pour a small, 10-cent-coin-sized amount of dressing onto the centre of the foam face. Press the sponge flat against the sidewall and spread with light pressure. Reload only when you notice product transfer dropping off. Less is more - you can always add another pass.

How do I prevent dressing from getting onto my wheels?

The dense foam and shaped applicator face are specifically designed to keep product on the tyre and off the rim. Keep the sponge pressed firmly against the sidewall as you move around the tyre, and avoid squeezing the sponge hard enough to force product out of the sides. Masking the inner rim lip with tape is an extra step some detailers take on show cars.

Can I use this sponge on the tyre tread?

No. Tyre dressings should never be applied to the tread area because they reduce grip. The Pitasupo sponge is designed for sidewall use only. Keep it strictly on the sidewall, clear of the tread edge.

How do I clean and maintain the sponge after use?

Rinse the sponge thoroughly with warm water immediately after use while the dressing is still wet. Gently squeeze out the residue until the water runs clear. Allow it to air dry fully before storing. Solvent-based dressings may require a small amount of car-wash shampoo to clear completely.

How many tyres can I do with one load of product on the sponge?

That depends on tyre size and the specific dressing, but as a general guide you should be able to cover one full sidewall per reload. For a set of four standard 225-width tyres, expect to reload the sponge four to six times in total to maintain consistent coverage without running dry or over-applying.

Will this sponge work with ceramic tyre coatings as well as standard dressings?

Yes, the Pitasupo sponge can be used to apply ceramic-based tyre coatings. For ceramic products, follow the manufacturer's flash and cure time guidelines - apply a thin, even layer and avoid buffing unless the product specifies it. Dedicated ceramic applicator sponges may offer slightly better control for precision coating work, but this sponge handles most ceramic tyre formulas without issue.

No more dressing on my rims after switching to this. The shape really does follow the sidewall properly and product stays exactly where you put it.

Straightforward little sponge - holds gel dressing well and the grip is comfortable. Would be a five if it came with a second one for swapping out mid-job.
Marlize D. Verified buyer
Clean sidewalls, no flick-off onto the spokes. Arrived well packaged from Detailer SA and was exactly what the listing showed.
Kavita R. Verified buyer
Dense foam absorbs just enough product without dripping. Satin finish on the tyres looks sharp against the black rims every single time.
Lwazi B. Verified buyer
Does the job neatly. Rinses clean after use with warm water and the foam hasn't degraded after several months of regular use.
