The Zvizzer Pyramid Sanding Surf Disc comes in P2000 and P3000. P2000 is suited to heavier orange peel reduction and levelling more pronounced sandpaper marks, while P3000 is better for finer finishing and softening light defects before polishing.
Can I use this disc dry, or does it require water?
This disc is designed as a water-fed sanding disc. Using it wet keeps the surface cool, flushes away swarf, and prevents the abrasive from loading up. Dry use is not recommended as it may scratch the surface unevenly and reduce disc life.
Is this disc safe on all paint types, including clear coat?
Yes. The disc is specifically designed for wet sanding of topcoat and clear coat finishes. It can also be used on plastic materials. Always test on an inconspicuous area first, particularly on single-stage or soft paints, and use the finest grit that will achieve the result you need.
What machine or backing plate does it attach to?
The disc has a Velcro (hook-and-loop) backing, so it mounts to any 3-inch hook-and-loop backing plate. It is compatible with DA (dual-action) polishers fitted with the correct plate. It can also be used by hand with a suitable hand block.
What speed and pressure settings should I use on a DA?
Work at low to medium speed settings and let the disc do the cutting - excess pressure can remove too much clear coat or leave deeper scratches. Keep the surface wet at all times and keep the machine moving to avoid heat build-up in one spot.
What do I do after sanding with this disc?
After sanding, the surface will have a fine, uniform scratch pattern. Follow up with a cutting or heavy compound to remove those sanding marks, then refine with a polish to bring back gloss. The pyramid scratch pattern is designed to cut back quickly under compound, reducing the number of polishing steps needed.
Can this disc be used on glass or PPF?
The disc is described for clear coat, lacquer and plastic materials. We would not recommend using it on PPF without confirming compatibility with the film manufacturer, as some films are sensitive to abrasive cutting. For glass, dedicated glass sanding and polishing products are more appropriate.
