What washing method works best with the WM2?
The WM2 is designed for the two-bucket or three-bucket wash method. Load the mitt with shampoo from your suds bucket, wash a panel, then rinse it thoroughly in your rinse bucket before reloading. The split varied-length fibres release trapped grit into the rinse water rather than dragging it back across the paint.
Is the WM2 safe on ceramic-coated paint and PPF?
Yes. The ultra-low friction pile is gentle enough for coated paint and PPF. On ceramic-coated surfaces, use a pH-neutral shampoo that won't strip the coating, and let the WM2's slick glide do the work without applying extra pressure.
Can I use this mitt on wheels, glass, and painted surfaces?
The WM2 is primarily designed for painted body panels. It is best practice to keep a dedicated mitt for wheels, since brake dust and iron contamination on a wheel mitt can scratch paint if the mitt is accidentally swapped. A separate glass cloth is also advisable to avoid transferring wax or detergent residue to glass.
How do I care for and launder the WM2?
Wash the WM2 separately from other fabrics, including regular towels, to prevent lint contamination. Use half the normal amount of a bleach-free detergent and wash at 30°C. Do not use fabric softener as it clogs the microfibres and reduces their effectiveness. If the mitt is heavily soiled with product residue, add half a cup of vinegar to the wash cycle. Either air dry or machine dry on a low heat setting.
Why should I avoid fabric softener?
Fabric softener coats the individual microfibre strands, filling the microscopic channels that give the mitt its contaminant-capture and release ability. Once those channels are blocked, the mitt loses its dirt-trapping properties and becomes more likely to drag grit across the paint rather than lifting it away safely.
How often should the WM2 be replaced?
With proper care, a quality microfibre wash mitt should last for many washes. Inspect the pile regularly: if the fibres feel matted, stiff, or start to shed, it is time to replace the mitt. Can I use the WM2 with a foam cannon pre-wash or snow foam?
