The CCS Heavy Cutting Pad is designed exclusively for DA (dual-action) and random orbital machines. It is not intended for rotary use, where the different motion and higher heat build-up can compromise the foam's performance and lifespan.
What backing plate size do I need?
This 3-inch pad measures 3.5 inches in diameter and 0.875 inches thick, and it fits a 3-inch backing plate. Using the correct backing plate size is important - an oversized plate will cause the pad to fold and track incorrectly, reducing cut and potentially marring the paint.
What compounds work best with this pad?
Any quality DA cutting compound pairs well with this pad. The CCS pockets control the rate of absorption, so you do not need to overload the pad. Prime the pad with a few drops before your first pass, then apply a pea-sized amount to the panel for subsequent sections. The design keeps compound available at the surface so you get consistent cut without constant reloading.
How does CCS Technology actually help during correction?

Can I use this pad on fresh paint, PPF or wrapped panels?
A heavy cutting pad paired with a cutting compound is aggressive. On fresh or delicate OEM paint, test in an inconspicuous area first and use the lowest effective machine speed. Do not use a cutting compound on PPF or vinyl wraps - these materials require dedicated film-safe products. For PPF correction, use a softer finishing pad with a paint-safe polish only.
Is the 3-inch size available in other foam grades?
Lake Country produces the CCS range in multiple foam grades and sizes. The 3-inch format is also available in polishing and finishing grades for the refine and gloss stages of a full correction.
