HC 4000 is rated to remove sanding and grinding marks from grain size P2000. For coarser sanding scratches you will need to step up with a more aggressive compound first, but for most body-shop spot repairs and DA sanding work, P2000 is the standard finishing grit and HC 4000 handles it directly.
Which pads work best with HC 4000?
Hard polishing pads with strong cutting properties are recommended by ZviZZer. On a dual-action or rotary machine, a firm foam or wool-blend cutting pad will get the most out of the abrasive grain. Softer pads will reduce cut speed and may not work the compound as effectively.
What machine settings should I use?
Spread the product across the panel at low speed, around 1,000 rpm, so the compound distributes evenly before you work it in. Then raise the machine speed to approximately 1,800 rpm and work the area with light pressure until the compound has fully broken down. Adjust speed slightly depending on your specific machine and pad combination.
Is HC 4000 safe on modern scratch-resistant and ceramic-coated paints?
