What is the maximum drilling capacity for wood and steel?
The PD 2G will drill up to 52 mm diameter in wood and up to 13 mm in steel. Chuck clamping width is 1.5-13 mm, which covers the full range of standard twist and spade bits for those applications.
How does the 2-speed gearbox work?
First gear runs 0-500 rpm for high-torque, low-speed work like driving large fasteners or drilling in hard materials. Second gear runs 0-1800 rpm for faster, lower-torque drilling in wood or softer substrates. You switch between them mechanically using the selector on the body.
What does the Electronic Management System (EMS) do?
The EMS monitors load conditions on the motor and adjusts power delivery to prevent overheating and overloading. It protects both the motor and the battery pack, which is what gives the brushless motor a significantly longer service life compared to a standard brushed unit.
How much torque does it produce and how is it adjusted?
Maximum torque on hard materials is 65 Nm and on soft materials is 35 Nm. Torque is adjusted via a 24-step collar on the front of the drill, so you can dial in exactly the right setting to avoid stripping screws or overdriving fixings.
Is this drill suitable for use in tight spaces?
Yes. Flex designed the PD 2G with an extremely short head length specifically to reach into confined areas. The overall body dimensions are 164.5 x 69 x 208 mm and the 1.2 kg weight (without battery) keep fatigue low during overhead or restricted-space work.
