Does the ZviZZer Clay Pad work with any orbital polisher?
Yes. It is designed for use with dual-action orbital polishers as well as air-driven orbital sanders or polishers connected to a compressor. It attaches the same way as a standard polishing pad.
What surfaces is the clay pad safe to use on?
The pad is safe on painted bodywork, clear coat, glass, polycarbonate and bare metal. Always use it with a clay lubricant and avoid applying downward pressure to prevent marring.
Do I need a clay lubricant, or can I use water?
A dedicated clay lubricant is required. Running the pad dry or with insufficient lubrication will scratch the surface. ZviZZer recommends using it with a proper clay lube sprayed generously across the panel before you begin.
How do I clean the pad after use?
Simply rinse the pad thoroughly under clean water after each use. This removes the contamination picked up during the decon stage and keeps the working surface effective for future jobs.
Should I use this before paint correction?
Yes. Decontaminating the paint before any correction work is standard practice. Fallout and bonded contaminants sitting on the surface will otherwise cause the compound to work less effectively and may introduce additional marring via the pad or backing plate.
In what order should I decontaminate the vehicle?
ZviZZer recommends starting with the glass on first use, then moving to the painted bodywork. This allows you to get a feel for the pad's behaviour on a less critical surface before working on the clear coat.
How much pressure should I apply?
No downward pressure. Let the pad glide across the lubricated surface under the weight of the machine alone. Pressing down increases the risk of marring the paint and is not necessary for effective decontamination.
Can this be used after an iron fallout remover?
Yes, and that is the recommended approach. A chemical fallout remover breaks down ferrous contamination first, and the clay pad then mechanically removes the residue and any remaining bonded contaminants in one pass. Together they give you a thorough decon before correction or coating.
