How do I apply T1 Tyre Gel correctly?
Shake the bottle well before use. Clean and dry the tyre thoroughly first - any contamination, old dressing or brake dust will affect adhesion and finish. Squeeze product onto a foam applicator pad, spread it evenly across the tyre sidewall, then remove any excess with a clean buffing cloth. Wear gloves throughout.
Can I use T1 on motorcycle or bicycle tyres?
No. Gtechniq explicitly states T1 must not be used on motorcycle or bicycle tyres. The product is formulated for car and light vehicle rubber only.
How do I get a satin finish versus a high-gloss finish?
A single coat of T1 gives you a natural, low-sheen satin result that looks close to OEM. If you want a higher-gloss, wet-tyre look, apply additional coats, allowing each to settle before adding the next. The finish is fully in your control.
Can T1 be used on exterior trim as well as tyres?
Yes. T1 is formulated for both rubber tyres and dark exterior trim. It will restore colour and leave the same water and oil repellent protection on plastic and rubber trim pieces.
How long does T1 last, and what affects its durability?
Gtechniq engineered T1 specifically for long-lasting durability using nanotechnology, which bonds more tenaciously than conventional silicone or water-based dressings. Actual longevity depends on wash frequency, road conditions and whether the surface was clean and dry at application. Starting with a properly decontaminated tyre will give you the best lifespan.
Does T1 sling onto the bodywork when driving?
Removing excess product with a buffing cloth after application is the key step to prevent slinging. If you leave an overly thick layer on the tyre, any dressing can migrate onto the paintwork. Wipe off what the tyre hasn't absorbed and you should be fine.
Can I layer T1 over or under other products?
T1 is designed to be the final step on tyres and trim after cleaning and decon. You can layer additional coats of T1 itself to build gloss. Avoid applying it under wheel sealants or coatings not intended for rubber, as this could affect adhesion of the other product.
Do I need to prime or prep the tyre surface before applying T1?
Yes. Thorough cleaning and drying before application is non-negotiable. Remove old dressing residue, brake dust and any fallout from the sidewall first. A clean, dry surface allows T1's nanotechnology to bond properly and gives you an even, consistent finish rather than a patchy one.
