Ceramic Graphene: 3-5 Year Ultra Hydrophobic Coating (50ml)

The CLC003 is safe on all paint types including factory paint, vinyl wraps, matte finishes and previously coated surfaces. It can also be applied to glass and hard plastic trim, though separate glass or trim coatings are often preferred for those substrates.

The surface must be thoroughly washed, decontaminated (iron fallout remover and clay bar), and polished to remove any swirl marks or defects. The coating locks in whatever finish the paint is in, so a full paint correction pass before application will give you the best result. The panel must be wiped down with an IPA panel wipe to remove any oils or polish residue before you coat.

Flash time varies with ambient temperature and humidity, but typically the coating becomes tacky and ready to level within 1-3 minutes of application on each panel. Full cure takes several days - during this period keep the surface dry and avoid washing or exposing the car to heavy rain. Avoid touching the coated surface until it has fully hardened.

CarLayer rates the CLC003 at 3-5 years of protection under normal use and maintenance. Longevity depends on how the vehicle is maintained - regular pH-neutral washing and avoiding abrasive or alkaline products will push durability toward the upper end of that range.

Coverage depends on the size of the vehicle and how sparingly the product is applied. For most passenger cars, a 50ml bottle is enough to coat the full exterior with some product remaining. Larger vehicles like bakkies or SUVs may use more. Apply only a few drops per applicator pass - less is more with ceramic coatings.

The CLC003 is applied by hand using a ceramic applicator block wrapped in a suede or short-pile cloth. Do not use a machine polisher for the coating itself. Once the coating has flashed on the panel, level and buff the residue off with a clean, soft microfibre towel.

A second coat of CLC003 can be applied once the first layer has cured sufficiently, typically after 12-24 hours. You can also top the cured coating with a ceramic-compatible spray detailer or ceramic booster to refresh hydrophobicity between annual maintenance. Do not apply traditional carnauba wax over the coating as it can affect bonding.

Once cured, the CLC003 produces an extremely high gloss, mirror-like finish with strong paint depth and clarity. Water will bead tightly and sheet off at low speeds. The anti-static graphene layer also means significantly less dust and airborne particles settling on the surface between washes.
