Frequently asked
Is this shampoo safe to use on a car coated with carnauba wax?
Yes, that is exactly what it is designed for. The formula is pH-balanced to clean road grime, dust, and traffic film without chemically breaking down or stripping carnauba wax or synthetic sealant layers. Your protection stays intact wash after wash.
Can I use it on a ceramic coated vehicle?
While the product is specifically formulated with wax and sealant protection in mind, its gentle, pH-neutral chemistry makes it a reasonable choice for ceramic coated paintwork too. It will not strip a cured ceramic coating. That said, if your vehicle is ceramic coated, Soft99 does offer shampoos formulated specifically for coated surfaces.
How much shampoo do I dilute per bucket?
Follow the dilution ratio on the label - typically a small cap-full into a standard 10-15 litre wash bucket is sufficient to generate a rich, lubricated lather. Avoid over-diluting, as the lubricating properties are what protect your paint during the wash process.
Will it remove tar spots, iron fallout, or bonded contamination?
No. This is a maintenance shampoo, not a decontamination product. For tar, fallout, or bonded contamination, you need a dedicated iron remover and tar solvent first. Use this shampoo for your regular maintenance washes once the paint is clean and protected.
Is it safe on plastic trim, rubber seals, and glass?
Yes. The gentle formula is safe on exterior rubber seals, unpainted plastic trim, and glass. It will not bleach or degrade these surfaces during a normal maintenance wash.
Can I use this in a foam cannon or pressure washer snow foam lance?
This product is formulated for traditional two-bucket or single-bucket hand washing. It will produce some foam in a lance, but it is not specifically designed or optimised for pressure washer foam cannons. For a dedicated snow foam pre-wash, look at a product formulated for that method.
How often can I use it without degrading my wax protection?
As often as your vehicle needs washing. Because the formula is designed not to strip wax, you are not compromising your protection with regular use. In fact, consistent maintenance washing with a wax-safe shampoo is one of the best ways to extend the life of your protection layer between annual or bi-annual reapplications.
What finish can I expect after washing?
After rinsing and drying, your paintwork should look clean and glossy with the slickness of your wax or sealant layer still clearly intact. You will notice water beading and sheeting behaviour is preserved - a quick water test after drying confirms the protection is still doing its job.
