Product Description

Soft99 Glass Stain Cleaner is a targeted glass compound designed to dissolve and lift stubborn water spots, mineral scale, road film and oxidised haze that regular glass cleaners simply cannot shift. It restores optical clarity to your windscreen, side windows and mirrors without scratching or leaving residue behind.

Ideal for:

- Removing hard water spots and limescale from windscreens and windows

- Clearing road grime, oil film and silicone haze from glass

- Pre-treatment before applying a glass sealant or rain repellent

- Restoring neglected glass on daily drivers, classics and show cars

Features

- Mild abrasive formula cuts through mineral deposits without scratching glass

- Works on front and rear windscreens, side windows and mirrors

- Safe to use by hand or with a machine polisher at low speed

- Leaves zero oily or soapy residue, so sealants bond cleanly after treatment

- Compact packaging suitable for workshop and detailing kit bags

Wipe on with a damp microfibre or foam applicator pad, work in small circular sections, then buff off with a clean, dry microfibre cloth. Follow up with your preferred glass sealant or rain repellent for the best long-term result.

Questions

Frequently asked

How do I apply Soft99 Glass Stain Cleaner?

Apply a small amount to a damp foam or microfibre applicator pad. Work the product into the glass in overlapping circular motions, focusing on heavily stained areas. Once the haze lifts and the product starts to dry, buff off with a clean, dry microfibre cloth. Work one section at a time, especially on large windscreens.

Can I use this on tinted windows?

Yes, the formula is safe for factory-tinted glass. If your vehicle has an aftermarket window film applied to the inside surface, keep this product on the exterior only. Do not apply it to the tint film side, as abrasive compounds can damage or haze the film surface.

Is it safe to use on mirrors and rear windows?

Absolutely. It is suitable for all exterior automotive glass including wing mirrors, rear windscreens and rear quarter windows. For heated rear windscreens, use light pressure and avoid abrasive rubbing directly over the heating elements.

Can I use a machine polisher with this product?

Yes. A dual-action polisher on a low to medium orbit setting, paired with a soft foam pad, will speed up the process on heavily contaminated glass. Keep the machine moving at all times and avoid dwelling in one spot, as glass can heat up quickly. Buff off residue by hand with a clean microfibre cloth.

Does it leave a protective coating on the glass?

No. The Glass Stain Cleaner is a preparation and correction product, not a sealant. It removes contamination and restores clarity. For water-repellent protection and hydrophobic beading, follow up with a dedicated glass sealant or rain repellent such as Soft99 Glaco or a comparable glass coating after using this cleaner.

How do I know when the product has done its job?

As you work the product into the glass, the residue will shift from white and creamy to grey or brown, which indicates it is lifting contamination. Once the glass feels smooth underhand and the residue begins to dry, it is ready to buff off. Hold a torch or panel light at a low angle to check for remaining haze or spots before moving on.

Can I use this product on the inside of the windscreen?

While the formula is gentle, interior glass is typically coated with outgassing residue from plastics and dash materials rather than mineral scale. A dedicated interior glass cleaner is more appropriate for that surface. The Glass Stain Cleaner is designed for and best suited to exterior glass contamination.

How often should I use the Glass Stain Cleaner?

Use it as needed, typically when water spots or road film are visible and do not respond to a regular glass cleaner. In areas with hard tap water or where vehicles are frequently exposed to industrial fallout, you may find yourself reaching for it every few months. Keeping a glass sealant on top of clean glass will significantly reduce how often a deep clean is required.

Water spots on the rear window had been there so long I thought they were permanent. This cleared them in one pass. Glass looked like new without any scratching.

Solid cleaner for stubborn mineral scale. Needed two applications on the worst spots on the windscreen, but the result was proper clarity. Followed up with a glass sealant and the finish is excellent.
