Frequently asked
What is Glaco Glass Cleaner actually designed to do?
It is a dedicated automotive glass cleaner formulated to strip oil films, silicone residue, wax and road grime from glass surfaces. Its primary purpose is to provide a chemically clean base so that Glaco water-repellent coatings can bond correctly and last as long as possible.
Do I need to use this before every Glaco water-repellent application?
Yes. Applying any water repellent over a contaminated surface dramatically reduces its durability and beading performance. Glaco Glass Cleaner removes the invisible films that cause repellents to bond unevenly or fail early. Consider it a non-negotiable first step in the Glaco system.
Is it safe on tinted windows?
Glaco Glass Cleaner is safe on factory-tinted glass. If your vehicle has aftermarket window film applied to the inside of the glass, avoid using any solvent-based cleaner on that surface and clean the exterior side only. When in doubt, test on a small inconspicuous area first.
Can I use it on mirrors and glass surfaces other than the windscreen?
Yes. It works on all automotive glass including side windows, rear windscreens, door mirrors and glass sunroof panels. Keep it off painted or plastic trim panels as prolonged contact may affect some surfaces.
How do I apply it correctly?
Spray a moderate amount onto the glass surface or directly onto a clean microfibre cloth. Wipe in overlapping strokes across the full panel, then buff off with a separate dry microfibre. For heavy oil film or silicone build-up, repeat the process before applying your Glaco repellent coating.
Does it leave any residue that could interfere with my Glaco coating?
No. The formula is designed to evaporate cleanly and leave the glass free of residue. That is the whole point of the product. Once buffed off properly with a dry microfibre, the surface is ready for immediate Glaco water-repellent application.
Can I use it as a regular day-to-day glass cleaner, or only as a pre-treatment?
It works well as a standalone glass cleaner for regular maintenance, delivering a streak-free, clear finish. However, it is specifically formulated with the Glaco system in mind, so if you are doing a full detail or refreshing your water repellent, use it as your pre-treatment step. For routine interior glass cleaning, a dedicated interior glass cleaner is often more practical.
How does it compare to using a general household glass cleaner?
Household glass cleaners often contain ingredients that leave behind a thin film on the surface - exactly what you do not want before applying a water repellent. Glaco Glass Cleaner is automotive-specific and formulated to strip rather than deposit, making it the correct choice when you need a genuinely clean glass surface for coating adhesion.
