Frequently asked
How do I apply Glaco DX correctly?
Start with a perfectly clean, dry windscreen - remove any existing contamination with a dedicated glass cleaner and, ideally, a clay bar or glass polish if there is water-spot or coating residue. Roll the applicator across the glass in straight, overlapping passes until the surface is evenly coated. Let it haze to a light white film, then buff off with a clean, dry microfibre cloth. A second coat applied after the first has been buffed off improves both durability and hydrophobic performance.
Can I use Glaco DX on side and rear windows as well as the windscreen?
Yes. Glaco DX works on all exterior automotive glass - windscreen, side windows, rear glass and mirrors. The roll-on applicator handles curved surfaces well. Avoid getting product on painted panels, rubber seals or plastic trims; if contact occurs, wipe off immediately with a damp cloth.
How long does the water-repellent effect last?
Durability depends heavily on prep quality and how often the vehicle is washed. On a properly decontaminated, oil-free windscreen with two coats applied, you can expect strong hydrophobic performance for several months of regular driving. Aggressive wiper use and frequent machine washing will shorten the effective life. Topping up with a single coat when beading diminishes is all it takes to restore performance.
Does it work if I leave my wipers running in the rain?
Glaco DX performs best at speeds where aerodynamic pressure clears the water before wipers are needed, but it still provides a meaningful improvement at lower speeds with wipers engaged. The repellent film reduces the effort your wipers need to clear the screen and helps prevent smearing. Over time, wiper contact does wear the coating faster, so expect slightly shorter intervals between reapplication if you rely heavily on wipers.
What is the flash time and how long before it cures fully?
The product hazes within roughly one to three minutes depending on ambient temperature and humidity - cooler, more humid conditions slow the process slightly. Buff off once the haze is uniform and no longer feels wet to the touch. The coating continues to harden over the next hour or so; avoid washing the glass during that period for best results.
Can Glaco DX be layered over a ceramic coating on the glass?
Glaco DX is designed to bond directly to bare glass. Applying it over a cured ceramic coating is unlikely to give strong adhesion, as most ceramics create a surface that resists additional bonding layers. If your glass already has a ceramic treatment in good condition, there is no benefit to adding Glaco DX on top. Use it on uncoated glass, or strip the old coating first with a glass polish before applying.
Is any special equipment needed for application?
No machine or specialised pad is required. The integrated roll-on applicator handles everything. You will need a clean, lint-free microfibre cloth for buffing the haze off. If your glass has visible water spots, mineral deposits or old coating residue, a glass polishing compound and applicator pad should be used beforehand to ensure the surface is fully clean and receptive.
How much glass can one bottle cover?
One bottle of Glaco DX is sufficient for a full two-coat treatment of a standard passenger car windscreen with product to spare for the side windows. Larger vehicles with bigger windscreens - bakkies, SUVs, minibuses - may use more per application. Because the roll-on applicator allows precise dosing without waste, coverage is generally efficient relative to the bottle size.
