Frequently asked
What exactly does Glaco De Cleaner remove?
It dissolves and lifts degraded silicone-based water-repellent coatings - including old or patchy Glaco treatments - from automotive glass. If your current repellent is streaking, smearing, or beading inconsistently, De Cleaner strips it back to bare glass so you can start fresh.
Do I have to use this before every Glaco application?
Not necessarily for a first-time application on bare glass, but it is strongly recommended whenever you are reapplying over an existing or failed repellent coating. Applying a new layer over a compromised old one causes uneven bonding and poor performance almost every time.
Which surfaces can I use Glaco De Cleaner on?
It is designed for automotive glass - windscreens, side windows, and rear glass. Take care to avoid prolonged contact with rubber seals, painted panels, and plastic trims. Apply in controlled, section-by-section passes rather than flooding the surface.
How do I apply it correctly?
Apply a small amount to a clean, dry microfibre cloth or foam applicator pad. Work it across the glass in overlapping passes, section by section. Allow it to dwell briefly to break down the residue, then wipe off with a separate clean cloth before the solvent evaporates fully. Follow immediately with your new glass coating or repellent.
Is there a flash time or cure time I need to wait for after using De Cleaner?
There is no cure time - once you have wiped the glass clean and it is residue-free, you can apply your new Glaco product straight away. Working quickly after removal is actually beneficial, as freshly cleaned glass bonds with repellent coatings more effectively.
Can I use this product on glass that has a ceramic coating applied to it?
It is not recommended for use over cured ceramic-coated glass, as the solvent is specifically formulated to strip coating residue and may affect the ceramic layer. For ceramic-coated glass, rather consult the coating manufacturer's prep and maintenance guidelines.
Will Glaco De Cleaner work on interior windscreen film or fogging residue?
Its primary purpose is removing exterior water-repellent coatings. For interior windscreen haze or off-gassing film, a dedicated interior glass cleaner would be more appropriate. Using De Cleaner inside is not its intended application and may leave residue behind.
Can I layer Glaco De Cleaner with other Soft99 products?
It is a prep product, not a standalone treatment, so it always precedes rather than layers with other products. After using De Cleaner, you can apply any Glaco water-repellent - Roll On, Ultra Glaco, or the original Glaco - for best bonding and durability results.
