Frequently asked
What surfaces can Glaco Blave be used on?
Glaco Blave is formulated specifically for automotive glass. It works on windscreens, side windows, rear glass and door mirrors. It is compatible with factory-tinted, heated rear windows and laminated safety glass. Do not apply it to painted panels, plastics or rubber seals.
How do I apply Glaco Blave?
Start with spotlessly clean, dry glass. Any contamination, water spots or old sealant residue will compromise bonding. Apply a small amount of Glaco Blave to a clean foam or microfibre applicator and work it into the glass in overlapping strokes. Allow the product to flash to a slight haze, then buff off with a clean, dry microfibre. Two thin coats give better durability than one heavy coat.
How long does Glaco Blave need to cure before it gets wet?
Allow Glaco Blave to cure for at least a couple of hours before exposing the glass to water or rain. A full 24-hour cure before washing the vehicle will give the coating the best chance to bond properly and deliver maximum durability.
How long does the water-repellent effect last?
Durability depends on environmental exposure, wiper use and how often the vehicle is washed. Under normal driving conditions, a two-coat application can hold water-repellent performance for several months. Wiper use and frequent washing will reduce longevity. Reapplication as needed keeps the hydrophobic effect consistent.
Do I need to decontaminate the glass before applying?
Yes. Proper decon is the most important prep step. Use an iron fallout remover on the glass, then follow with a clay bar or glass-specific clay towel to remove embedded contamination. Any contamination left on the surface will create an uneven bond and patchy water beading. Finish with an IPA wipe before application.
Can Glaco Blave be layered or used over another sealant?
You can apply a second coat of Glaco Blave over the first once the initial coat has cured, which significantly improves durability. Do not apply it over a different brand's glass sealant without stripping the old product first. Incompatible layers often reduce performance rather than improve it.
Will Glaco Blave affect wiper performance or damage wiper blades?
Once fully cured, Glaco Blave's hydrophobic film is smooth and does not damage wiper blades. In fact, many users find they need wipers far less in light rain because water sheets off on its own at speed. During the initial cure period, avoid using wipers on a dry windscreen as this can smear the product.
Is Glaco Blave compatible with ceramic-coated vehicles?
Glaco Blave is a glass-specific treatment and is intended for bare automotive glass only. If your glass already has a dedicated glass ceramic coating applied, check the ceramic manufacturer's guidance before adding any additional sealant on top. On vehicles where only the paintwork is ceramic coated, Glaco Blave can be applied to the glass independently without any compatibility issues.
