Product Description

The Soft99 DiGloss Kamitoré Sponge is a purpose-shaped wheel sponge designed to clean into the tight spots that a standard wash mitt simply cannot reach - spokes, barrel walls, and inner rim faces - while staying gentle enough not to scratch alloy or painted wheel surfaces.

Ideal for:

- Cleaning alloy, painted, and machined-face wheels

- Removing brake dust and road grime from spoke gaps

- Applying wheel cleaner precisely without waste

- Weekly maintenance washes and pre-decon prep

Features

- Contoured sponge profile fits around spokes and into barrel recesses

- Soft, non-abrasive foam is safe on clear-coated and polished alloys

- Firm enough to apply targeted pressure where brake dust accumulates

- Works with any wheel cleaner, decon solution, or diluted all-purpose cleaner

- Easy to rinse clean after each use

Work your wheel cleaner in, let it dwell, then use the Kamitoré Sponge to agitate and lift brake dust and grime from every surface. Rinse well and the result is a clean that a hose alone cannot deliver.

Questions

Frequently asked

What wheel types is the Kamitoré Sponge safe to use on?

It is safe on all common wheel finishes including clear-coated alloy, painted wheels, machined-face alloys, and chrome. Avoid using it on bare uncoated carbon fibre wheels without testing first, as even soft foam can trap grit. Always rinse the sponge thoroughly before contact to make sure there is no debris caught in the foam.

Which wheel cleaning products can I use with this sponge?

The Kamitoré Sponge is compatible with any pH-neutral or acidic fallout and wheel cleaner, alkaline all-purpose cleaners diluted for wheels, and iron decon sprays. Just apply your chosen product to the wheel, allow it to dwell as directed, then agitate with the sponge before rinsing.

How do I use the sponge to clean inside the barrel?

Push the narrow edge of the sponge through the spoke gap and work it along the barrel face in short strokes. The sponge compresses to follow the contour of the barrel wall. Combine this with a dedicated barrel brush for the deepest inner sections if your wheel design allows very limited access.

Can I use this sponge with a machine or is it hand-use only?

This is a hand-use sponge. It is shaped for manual agitation and the ergonomic grip gives you the control you need to work around spoke profiles and tight recesses. Machine pairing is not applicable here.

How do I clean and store the sponge after use?

Rinse the sponge thoroughly under running water immediately after use, squeezing it several times to flush out brake dust and cleaning product residue. Allow it to air-dry fully before storing. Do not store it compressed or folded, as this can distort the foam over time.

How long will the sponge last before it needs replacing?

With proper rinsing and storage after each use, the Kamitoré Sponge will last through many wash sessions. Replace it when the foam starts to tear, loses its shape, or no longer rinses clean - worn foam can harbour trapped grit that risks scratching your wheels.

Is this sponge suitable for use on tyres as well?

You can use it on tyre sidewalls to apply tyre dressing or scrub sidewall browning, but keep a separate sponge for tyres and one for wheels. Tyre rubber and dressings can contaminate the foam and transfer to your wheel surface during the next wash.

Does the sponge work with iron fallout removers?

Yes. Apply your iron fallout remover to the wheel and let it dwell until you see the purple reaction indicating dissolved iron particles. Then use the Kamitoré Sponge to gently agitate stubborn fallout deposits before rinsing. Rinse the sponge well immediately afterwards, as iron removers are aggressive on prolonged contact with foam.

Gets into the spokes properly where my old rectangular sponge just slid over the surface. Brake dust rinses out of the foam easily too, which I did not expect.

Decent wheel sponge - soft enough that I am not worried about my machined alloys and shaped well enough to reach the barrel face without fighting the spoke. Would buy a second one to keep dedicated for tyres.
