Frequently asked
How do I apply GIRA EDGE to my tyres?
Squeeze a small amount of gel onto a foam applicator pad and work it into the tyre sidewall using overlapping strokes. A little product goes a long way - avoid applying so thickly that excess pools at the rim edge. One coat is enough for most tyres; a second thin coat can be added once the first has flashed.
What surfaces is GIRA EDGE suitable for?
It's designed specifically for rubber tyre sidewalls. It is not recommended for the tread surface, painted wheels, or trim panels. For those surfaces, look at Soft99's dedicated trim or wheel coating products instead.
How long does it take to flash and cure?
Allow the product to flash for a few minutes after application before moving the vehicle. Full cure typically takes several hours, during which you should keep the tyres dry and away from water. Avoid driving through puddles or washing the car immediately after application.
How long does the coating last on the tyre?
Durability depends on how often you drive, road conditions, and how thoroughly the tyre was decontaminated before application. Under normal driving conditions with regular washes, GIRA EDGE is designed to outlast conventional dressings significantly - expect multiple weeks of protection per application.
Does GIRA EDGE fling onto the paintwork?
The gel formula is specifically engineered to resist sling. Because it bonds to the rubber rather than sitting as a loose liquid film, it stays on the tyre sidewall during driving. That said, always apply to a clean, dry tyre and avoid over-application, which can lead to excess sitting on the surface.
What finish does GIRA EDGE leave - gloss, satin or matte?
GIRA EDGE leaves a deep, rich finish that sits between a natural satin and a full high-gloss wet look. It enhances the tyre's colour without making it look artificially coated or greasy - a result that suits both show cars and well-presented daily drivers.
Can I apply GIRA EDGE over a previous tyre dressing?
For best results, start with a fully cleaned and decontaminated tyre. Old dressings, silicone residue, and browning compounds can prevent the coating from bonding properly. Use a dedicated tyre cleaner or an alkaline wheel cleaner on the sidewall, rinse thoroughly, and allow to dry completely before applying GIRA EDGE.
Can GIRA EDGE be layered for extra protection?
Yes, a second thin coat can be applied once the first has fully cured. Layering increases the depth of the finish and can extend durability. Allow full cure between coats and ensure the surface is free of any dust or contamination before adding the second layer.
