Frequently asked
How do I apply Soft99 Black Black correctly?
Clean the tyre thoroughly and allow it to dry completely before application. Apply a thin, even layer using a foam tyre applicator, working it into the sidewall. Allow the silicone to flash for a few minutes, then wipe away any excess with a clean microfibre cloth. Two thin coats give a more uniform and durable result than a single heavy coat.
Is Black Black suitable for all tyre types?
Yes - it is formulated for rubber tyre sidewalls. It works on standard passenger tyres, performance tyres, and SUV tyres. Avoid applying it to the tread surface, as this reduces grip. It is not intended for white-letter or raised-white-lettering tyres where the silicone may discolour the white areas.
How long does the finish last before I need to reapply?
Durability depends on how often the car is washed and driven in wet conditions, but you can generally expect the finish to hold for two to four weeks under normal use. The silicone bonding means it outlasts most spray-on tyre dressings significantly. Two initial coats extend longevity further.
Will Black Black sling onto my paint or wheel arches when driving?
The silicone coating bonds to the tyre surface rather than sitting as a liquid layer, so fling is minimal compared to oil-based tyre dressings. Allow the product to fully flash and buff off any excess before driving to ensure there is nothing loose on the surface that could transfer.
What sheen level does Black Black produce - wet or satin?
Black Black delivers a controlled satin-to-semi-gloss sheen, not the extreme wet look of some silicone sprays. The result reads as a deep, clean black that looks natural and well-maintained rather than over-dressed. If you prefer a higher gloss, a second coat can intensify the finish slightly.
Can I use Black Black over an existing tyre dressing?
For best results, strip any previous dressing with an all-purpose cleaner or dedicated decon wash before applying Black Black. Applying over old product prevents the silicone from bonding properly to the rubber, which shortens durability and can lead to uneven coverage.
Does Black Black protect against UV browning and greying?
Yes - UV protection is one of the core benefits of the silicone formula. It forms a barrier between the rubber and UV radiation, slowing the oxidation process that causes sidewalls to turn brown or grey over time. Regular reapplication keeps the protection topped up.
Can I layer Black Black with a ceramic or wax product on the paint?
Black Black is a standalone tyre product and works independently of whatever you have applied to the paint. There is no chemical interaction to worry about - just be careful during application not to let the silicone transfer onto painted surfaces or freshly coated paintwork. Mask the lower edge of the guard if you want to be precise.
