Which Rupes polishers does this backing plate fit?
This plate fits both the short neck and long neck versions of the Rupes iBrid Nano polisher. It does not fit any other Rupes machine in the range - the Mille, Duetto or BigFoot LHR models use different plates.
What size pads does this plate accept?
The plate accepts 2 inch (50mm) Velcro-backed polishing pads. These are the standard Nano pads included in Rupes Nano kits. Do not try to run a larger pad on this plate as it will sit off-centre and cause vibration.
Is this a genuine Rupes part or an aftermarket copy?
This is the genuine Rupes OEM backing plate, the same part supplied in every Rupes iBrid Nano Kit. You get correct fitment, proper Velcro density and the same balance the machine was designed around.
How do I know when to replace my backing plate?
Replace the plate when the Velcro face starts to lose grip and pads detach during use, when the plate shows visible warping, or if you notice increased vibration that was not there before. A worn plate affects pad centring and finishing quality.
Can I use this plate on paint, glass or trim?
The plate itself is just the interface between the machine and the pad. Surface compatibility depends entirely on the pad and compound you attach to it. With the right Nano pad and product, the iBrid Nano is used on paint, glass and trim regularly.

Any 2 inch Velcro-backed pad will attach to this plate. The Velcro system is standard, so third-party Nano pads with a Velcro backing will grip and release normally. Just confirm the pad diameter is 50mm.
