What machines is this pad designed for?
The CCS Green Polishing Pad is designed exclusively for DA (dual-action) and random orbital polishers. It is not intended for rotary use, where the geometry and heat profile are different.
What backing plate size do I need?
This pad fits a standard 5 inch backing plate. Match your backing plate to the pad size for correct pad geometry and to get the tapered edge working as intended.
What does CCS Technology actually do?
CCS stands for Cutback Random Orbital. The pad features a pattern of partially closed foam cells - essentially pockets - that slow the rate at which the foam absorbs your compound or polish. Instead of the product being pulled into the pad immediately, it is released gradually during the polishing pass. This keeps more product working at the surface where you need it.
How does this pad reduce heat?
The CCS pockets reduce the total surface area in direct contact with the paint. Less contact means less friction per pass, which means the pad runs cooler than a conventional smooth foam pad working at the same speed and pressure.
What compounds or polishes work with this pad?
The green foam grade is a polishing pad, best paired with a light to medium polish for refining after a cutting stage or for one-step correction on paint in reasonable condition. It is not the right choice for heavy compound work - for that, pair a more aggressive foam grade or a cutting pad with your compound.
How do I prime the pad before use?
Apply a few small dots of your chosen polish directly to the CCS face before your first section. Run the machine briefly on a panel or foam prime block to spread the product into the cells. This prevents the pad from absorbing a disproportionate amount of product on the first pass.
Can I use this pad on clear coat, single-stage, and PPF?
Yes. The pad is suited to clear-coated paint and single-stage finishes. When working on PPF, keep your machine speed and pressure moderate and work smaller sections to manage heat, as PPF is more sensitive to friction than hardened clear coat.
How do I clean and maintain the pad?
Spur the pad regularly during a correction session to clear loaded product from the cells and restore pad performance. After use, wash with a pad cleaning solution or mild shampoo, rinse thoroughly, and allow to air dry face-up. Do not store pads while wet or compressed.
