Halo Flexible Film Coating Gtechniq.

Ceramic for Film

Purpose-built protection for PPF and vinyl

HALOv2 chemically bonds directly to the film surface, creating a dense hydrophobic barrier that keeps grime, bird droppings and road debris from sticking. Unlike general-purpose ceramic coatings, its flexible chemistry works with the film rather than against it - gloss, satin or matte, the finish stays exactly as the installer intended.

Why HALOv2

Every reason to coat your film

Protection that works with your PPF, not against it.

  • Film-Safe Formula

Flexible chemistry bonds to PPF without blocking self-healing polymers or altering matte and satin sheen.

  • True Hydrophobic Barrier

Low surface energy causes water, mud and grime to bead and sheet off with minimal effort during maintenance washes.

  • UV and Debris Defence

Blocks UV rays that cause film yellowing while adding a sacrificial layer against bird droppings and road fallout.

  • Up to Two Years

Single-layer application rated to last up to two years on PPF and vinyl under normal use and washing conditions.

HALOv2 vs the Alternative

How it stacks up against a standard ceramic coating on film

Applying a standard paint-grade ceramic coating to PPF is a common workaround, but it carries real trade-offs. Here is how HALOv2 compares to a typical non-film-specific ceramic on the things that matter when you are protecting PPF or vinyl.

Feature DetailerSA Alternative
Preserves PPF self-healing properties Yes No
Safe on satin and matte finishes Yes No
Flexible formula - moves with the film Yes No
Hydrophobic water and dirt repellency Yes Yes
UV protection against film yellowing Yes Yes
Application by a non-certified detailer No Yes

Two-Year Durability

One application, long-term peace of mind

A single layer of HALOv2 is rated to last up to two years on PPF and vinyl, reducing how often you need to top up protection. The low surface energy surface that results means regular maintenance washes take a fraction of the effort, and the UV-blocking chemistry slows film yellowing and discolouration over time.

Questions

Frequently asked

What surfaces can HALOv2 be applied to?

HALOv2 is formulated specifically for paint protection film (PPF) and vinyl wraps. It works across all finish types - gloss, satin and matte - without altering the sheen or compromising the film's self-healing properties. It is not designed to be applied directly to bare paint or glass.

How long does HALOv2 last on PPF and vinyl?

Gtechniq rates HALOv2 at up to two years on PPF and vinyl under normal conditions. Longevity depends on how often the vehicle is washed, the local environment and whether a pH-neutral maintenance wash routine is followed.

Does HALOv2 require more than one layer?

No. HALOv2 is a single-layer application. One coat is all that is specified - applying additional layers is not recommended and will not improve performance.

How long must the vehicle stay indoors after application?

The vehicle must remain indoors for at least 12 hours after HALOv2 has been applied. The coating needs this time to bond and begin curing without exposure to moisture, dust or temperature fluctuations. Good indoor lighting during application also helps ensure even coverage.

Will HALOv2 affect the self-healing properties of my PPF?

No. HALOv2's flexible formula is engineered to sit on top of the film without sealing off the polymers responsible for self-healing. You keep the PPF's self-healing behaviour while gaining an additional layer of hydrophobic and UV protection.

What is included in the box?

Each kit contains a bottle of HALOv2 Flexible Film Coating (either 30 ml or 50 ml depending on the variant purchased), a pair of nitrile gloves, a Gtechniq AP2 Ultra Soft Foam Filled Applicator, a Master Instruction Leaflet and a Gtechniq window sticker.

Can I apply HALOv2 myself or do I need a professional installer?

HALOv2 can be applied by a careful and experienced DIY detailer, but Gtechniq recommends using a certified installer for the best result. Ceramic coatings on PPF require a clean, decontaminated surface, controlled indoor conditions and confident application technique. If you have not coated film before, professional installation is the safer choice.

How should the PPF or vinyl be prepared before applying HALOv2?

The film surface must be fully decontaminated and free of any grease, residue or fallout before coating. This typically means a thorough wash, an IPA wipe-down to strip any wax or previous sealant from the film surface, and a check under good lighting for any contamination spots. The vehicle must be indoors and the surface must be at the correct temperature before you begin application.
