Should I wash the Gentleman+ before using it for the first time?
Yes, Work Stuff recommends a pre-wash before first use. This removes any residual manufacturing fibres and opens the microfibre pile fully, so you get maximum absorbency and pick-up right from the first wipe.
Can I use fabric softener when washing it?
No. Fabric softener coats the microfibre strands and significantly reduces absorbency. Wash the Gentleman+ in a dedicated microfibre detergent or a mild, softener-free laundry liquid, and skip the dryer sheet too.
Is the Gentleman+ safe on freshly corrected or polished paint?
Yes. The 600g/m² fluffy pile is very soft and gentle, making it well suited to buffing wax or a quick detailer over a freshly corrected finish without reintroducing swirl marks or light scratches.
What is it best used for - applying product or removing it?
It handles both jobs well. For application, use it flat to spread wax or a quick detailer evenly. For removal, fold it into quarters so you have a clean buffing face for each panel, which prevents cross-contamination and streaking.
Will the laser-cut edges scratch paint or glass?
No. The laser-cut edge seals the fibres cleanly without a sewn border, so there is no raised stitching or hard edge to drag across the surface. It is one of the main reasons detailers prefer laser-cut cloths over edged alternatives.
Can I use the Gentleman+ on glass?
Yes. It leaves a streak-free finish on glass when used with a quick detailer or glass cleaner. For best results, use a dedicated clean cloth on glass rather than one that has already been used for wax removal, as wax residue can smear.
Is it suitable for interior surfaces like plastic trim and leather?
Yes. The soft fluffy pile makes it equally capable on interior panels, dashboard trim and hard plastics. It will not scratch textured surfaces and picks up dust and product residue efficiently. For leather, make sure any leather conditioner you use is compatible with microfibre to avoid staining the cloth.
How many Gentleman+ cloths should I have in my kit?
