Know your surfaces

Maximum agitation where it counts, not where it hurts

Rated 5/6 for durability and cleaning power, these brushes are built to last through regular decon sessions and engine-bay washes. Because they are medium-hard, they stay out of the paint bay - but for every surface that can take it, they are the tool that actually gets it clean.

Questions

Frequently asked

Can I use these brushes on painted panels or clear coat?

No. These are medium-hard brushes and will scratch painted surfaces, piano-black trim, glossy rims and any lacquered or polished element. Keep them strictly for rims (non-gloss), engine bays, interior panels and mechanical components.

What are the three brush sizes in the set?

The set includes one brush at 24mm, one at 28mm and one at 30mm. The size difference lets you pick the right brush for the opening or surface you are working on - smaller for tight engine-bay crevices, larger for wider rim spokes and interior vents.

What are the bristles made from?

The bristles are synthetic. They are firm enough to dislodge caked-on grime, road fallout and grease but not designed for delicate surfaces. The handles are coated plastic for durability and grip during use.

Are these suitable for cleaning alloy rims?

Yes, but only on non-gloss alloy rims. If your rims have a polished, piano-black or lacquered finish, rather use a softer wheel brush to avoid micro-scratching those surfaces. On standard matte or powder-coated alloys these brushes are well suited to getting into the spokes and barrel.

Can I use these on a motorcycle as well as a car?

Yes. The set works well for motorcycle engine cleaning where you need to get into tight fins and around mechanical components. The same surface compatibility rules apply - do not use them on painted bodywork or polished chrome.

How should I care for and store these brushes?

Rinse the bristles thoroughly after each use to clear out any chemical residue, decon products or loosened grime. Shake off excess water and store them bristle-up or laid flat in a clean area. Avoid leaving them soaking in chemicals for extended periods, as this can affect the bristle integrity over time.

Can I use these brushes with wheel cleaners or engine degreasers?

Yes. These brushes pair well with fallout removers, iron decontaminants and engine degreasers. Apply your product first, allow the appropriate dwell time, then agitate with the relevant brush size. Always check that your chosen chemical is compatible with the surface you are cleaning, not just the brush.

How do these compare to softer detailing brushes?

Compared to boar-hair or ultra-soft synthetic brushes (typically rated 5-6/6 for softness), these are on the firm end at 2/6 for softness. That firmness is exactly what makes them effective on engine bays, rims and interior plastics where you need mechanical agitation to shift compacted dirt - but it is precisely why they should never touch painted or gloss surfaces.
