Why Diamond Shield

Protection that covers every threat

Four reasons professional detailers choose CarLayer's flagship coating.

  • 5-7 Year Bond

Exceptional adhesion to paint and vinyl wrap keeps the coating locked in for years, not months.

  • Chemical Fortress

Withstands bird droppings, tree sap, industrial fallout and harsh chemicals without etching the surface.

  • UV and Weather Proof

Blocks UV rays that cause paint fading and oxidation, while resisting corrosion from environmental exposure.

  • Super Hydrophobic

Water beads tightly and sheets off on contact, keeping the paint cleaner between washes.

Diamond Shield vs. Standard Coating

Not all ceramic coatings are built the same

Entry-level ceramic coatings do a reasonable job, but there are real differences when you push them against long-term durability, chemical resistance and gloss depth. Here is how Diamond Shield stacks up.

5-7 year durability rating Yes No
Compatible with vinyl wrap Yes Yes
Strong chemical and fallout resistance Yes No
Oxidation and UV fade protection Yes Yes

The Finish You Can See

Gloss so deep it changes how the car looks in every light

The extreme high-gloss finish Diamond Shield leaves behind is not a side effect - it is a design goal. Combined with super hydrophobic beading that sheets water cleanly off every panel, the result is a car that looks freshly detailed long after the last wash.

Questions

Frequently asked

What surfaces is Diamond Shield compatible with?

Diamond Shield is formulated for gloss paint and vinyl wrap surfaces. It is not recommended for matte or satin finishes, as the coating is engineered specifically to enhance and protect high-gloss substrates.

How do I apply Diamond Shield?

Work in a cool, shaded environment with the panel surface cool to the touch. Apply a small amount of coating to a suede or foam applicator block and spread it evenly across one panel at a time in overlapping strokes. Allow the coating to flash - it will haze slightly - then level off with a clean, plush microfibre cloth before moving to the next panel.

What is the flash time and how long does it take to fully cure?

Flash time varies with temperature and humidity but is typically between 1 and 3 minutes in normal workshop conditions. The coating reaches initial hardness within 24 hours, but full cure and maximum chemical resistance develop over 7 days. Keep the vehicle dry and away from chemical exposure during that window.

How long will Diamond Shield last?

CarLayer rates Diamond Shield for 5-7 years of protection under normal conditions, with regular maintenance washes. Using a compatible ceramic maintenance spray or booster between annual maintenance details will help sustain the hydrophobic performance and gloss over that period.

How many vehicles or panels can one 50ml bottle cover?

Coverage depends on the complexity of the vehicle, panel size and how much product you apply per section. For an average-sized passenger car, one 50ml bottle is generally sufficient for one full coat. Applying two coats for added hardness and depth will require a second bottle for most vehicles.

Can I apply Diamond Shield over PPF?

The source description lists gloss paint and vinyl wrap as the confirmed compatible surfaces. If your PPF has a gloss finish and the manufacturer permits ceramic coating application on top, Diamond Shield should be suitable - but always confirm compatibility with your PPF supplier before coating.

Can Diamond Shield be layered with other CarLayer products?

Yes. Once Diamond Shield has reached its initial 24-hour hardness, a second coat of Diamond Shield can be applied for added depth and durability. It can also be topped periodically with a ceramic maintenance spray or detailer to refresh the hydrophobic layer without stripping the base coat.

What finish can I expect once it has cured?

Once fully cured, Diamond Shield delivers an extreme high-gloss finish characterised by strong depth and clarity. Water beads tightly and sheets off quickly, the surface feels slick to the touch, and light scratches and swirl marks are resisted by the hardened ceramic layer on top of the paint.
