How do I prepare my wheels before applying C5?
Start with a thorough decon wash - remove brake dust, iron fallout and any old sealants. Once the wheel is clean and fully dry, wipe each surface down with a panel cleaner to ensure bare, contaminant-free metal before coating. Skipping this step will compromise the chemical bond.
How do I apply C5 Wheel Armour?
Shake the bottle well and wear gloves. Soak the included applicator pad with a few drops of product and spread the coating evenly over no more than half a wheel at a time. Once the coating flashes (within 30 to 60 seconds), buff off any residue with a clean microfibre cloth. Work section by section until all wheels are done.
What is the flash and cure time?
C5 flashes quickly - you have a 30 to 60 second window to buff the residue after spreading. After completing all wheels, allow the coating to cure indoors for 12 hours before exposing the vehicle to water, rain or road conditions. Driving before the cure is complete will compromise durability.
How long does C5 last?
Gtechniq rates C5 at up to 2 years of durability under normal driving and washing conditions. Longevity depends on how aggressively the wheels are cleaned and how frequently the car is used. Maintaining a pH-neutral wash routine will extend the coating's life.
How much product does a 30ml bottle cover?
The 30ml bottle is sized to coat a full set of four wheels comfortably. Because you apply in small, thin sections - no more than half a rim at a time with a few drops per pass - the product goes a long way. Avoid flooding the applicator, as thin coats bond and cure more effectively than thick ones.
Can C5 withstand the heat from brake callipers?
Yes. C5 Wheel Armour is formulated to withstand temperatures up to 600°C (1112°F), which makes it suitable for direct application to brake callipers and exhaust tips where heat exposure is extreme. Standard wheel sealants and waxes cannot hold up under those conditions.
