Frequently asked
Is this shampoo suitable for colours other than white?
It works best on white, off-white, silver, and pearl/oyster finishes. The colour-brightening agents in the formula are tuned for light tones - on dark paint they won't cause harm, but you'll get better results using Soft99's dark-paint variants instead.
Does the wax in the shampoo replace a proper wax or sealant?
No. The wax component is a top-up layer, not a standalone protection treatment. Think of it as a way to maintain and lightly replenish an existing wax or sealant layer between full application sessions. For new or bare paint, apply a dedicated wax or sealant first, then use this shampoo to maintain it.
Will this strip an existing ceramic coating or paint sealant?
No - it's pH-balanced and formulated to be gentle on existing coatings. It won't degrade a properly cured ceramic coating, sealant, or wax layer. If anything, the wax component adds a small amount of slip on top of the existing protection.
Is it safe on PPF (paint protection film)?
Yes. The pH-balanced, non-abrasive formula is safe on PPF and vinyl wraps. Avoid soaking cut edges of film, and rinse thoroughly as you normally would on wrapped panels.
What dilution ratio do you recommend?
Soft99 recommends using the shampoo at approximately 1:100 to 1:200 in a wash bucket, depending on how dirty the vehicle is. A single cap in a standard 10-litre wash bucket gives you plenty of foam and cleaning power for a full wash.
Can I use this in a foam cannon or snow-foam lance?
It's designed primarily as a hand-wash shampoo in a bucket, not a dedicated snow-foam product. You can use it in a foam lance for a contact-wash step, but don't expect the same thick foam sheet you'd get from a dedicated pre-wash foam. It performs best in the two-bucket wash method.
How should I wash to minimise swirl risk when using this shampoo?
Use the two-bucket method - one bucket with shampoo solution, one with clean rinse water. Work panel by panel from top to bottom, rinse your mitt in the clean bucket before reloading with shampoo. The shampoo's lubricating foam helps, but technique is still the main factor in keeping swirls off the paint.
How does the finish look after washing and drying?
On white and pearl paint, you get a noticeably brighter finish compared to a plain shampoo wash, with a light gloss and a touch of slickness on the surface. It won't give you the same depth as a freshly applied wax, but it's a clear step up from washing with a neutral shampoo alone.
