Frequently asked
What surfaces can this tape bond to?
It is designed for automotive use and bonds well to painted bodywork, hard plastic trim, metal mouldings and rubber-backed strips. Always test on a small area if you are unsure about the substrate.
Do I need to prep the surface before applying?
Yes - a clean, dry and grease-free surface is essential for a strong bond. Wipe both surfaces with an IPA (isopropyl alcohol) solution before application. Any wax, polish residue or contamination will reduce adhesion significantly.
How long should I wait before stressing the bond?
Allow at least 24 hours of dwell time at room temperature before the bond is exposed to pulling, flexing or washing. Colder conditions slow the adhesive cure, so give it longer in cooler environments.
Can this tape be used on PPF or vinyl wrap?
We recommend caution on PPF and vinyl. Aggressive adhesives can lift the film edges when removed. Test in an inconspicuous area first and avoid using it near seams or edges of any film.
Is it safe on freshly painted panels?
Freshly painted panels need adequate cure time before any adhesive tape is applied - typically at least 30 days for a full solvent paint cure. Applying earlier risks pulling or marking the finish when the tape is removed.
How do I remove the tape cleanly without damaging the paint?
Warm the tape gently with a heat gun or hairdryer to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly at a low angle. Any remaining residue can be lifted with an IPA wipe or a dedicated adhesive remover - avoid anything abrasive.
Can I use this tape in high-heat areas like near the engine bay?
This tape is intended for exterior body and trim repairs rather than under-bonnet applications. Extreme heat cycles in the engine bay can break down the adhesive over time. For high-heat areas, use a tape rated specifically for those temperatures.
Does this tape work on curved or contoured trim sections?
The tape can conform to mild curves when cut into shorter sections and applied progressively. For tight contours, cut the tape into smaller pieces and press each section individually to maintain full contact along the bond line.
