What types of chemicals can the IK HC 1.5 handle?
The HC 1.5 is built for hydrocarbons, vegetable and animal oils, petroleum products, lubricants, solvent-based degreasers and solvent-based pesticides. Its internal components and seals are rated for maximum resistance to these product types. Standard sprayers with rubber or nylon seals will swell and fail with the same chemistry.
Can I use it with water-based products too?
You can, but the HC 1.5 is specifically engineered for chemical-resistant duty. If you only ever spray water-based products, a standard IK Multi or Foam sprayer is a better match. Save the HC 1.5 for the aggressive chemistry where it earns its keep.
What is the useful capacity versus the total capacity?
The useful (fill) capacity is 1 litre, which is the maximum volume of product you should add. The total capacity of the tank is 1.5 litres - that headspace above the liquid is necessary for pressurisation. Always fill to the 1 litre mark, not to the top.
How does the safety valve work?
The valve is pre-set (tared) at 2.5 bar / 36 psi. Once internal pressure reaches that threshold, the valve releases automatically. This prevents over-pressurisation, which is especially important when spraying volatile solvent products. Do not attempt to adjust or bypass it.

How should I clean the sprayer between different products?
Flush the tank, pump and nozzle with a compatible solvent or rinse agent between products, particularly if switching from one chemical family to another. Never mix incompatible chemicals in the tank. Allow the sprayer to fully depressurise before opening the cap - point the nozzle away from your face and release the pressure trigger first.
