How does it stack up?

ServFaces Finish Polish vs a typical cheaper finishing polish

Choosing a finishing polish comes down to whether it can genuinely remove what you need removed while leaving a clean, coating-ready surface. Here is an honest look at where ServFaces Finish Polish stands apart and where any decent product in this category holds its own.

Feature DetailerSA Alternative
Silicone-free formula safe for body shops and follow-on coatings Yes No
Removes P2500 wet-sand marks and striae in a single stage Yes No
Abrasives matched specifically to scratch-resistant clear coats Yes No
Delivers a hologram-free, mirror-level gloss finish Yes Yes

Body-Shop Ready Formula

Silicone-free from the start, coating-ready at the end

With no silicone in the formula, Finish Polish fits naturally into a professional workflow where the next step is a ceramic coating, sealant, or PPF - no extra degreasing stage to strip silicone contamination before you lay down your protection.

Questions

Frequently asked

What machine and pad combination works best with Finish Polish?

ServFaces recommends a Polishing Pad V2 or V3, or a Polishing Pelt, paired with a rotary polisher. Start at roughly 800 rpm with moderate-to-firm pressure to get the abrasives working, then back off the pressure and bring the speed up to around 1,500 rpm to refine and build gloss. Maximum operating speed is 2,000 rpm.

Can Finish Polish be used with a dual-action (DA) polisher?

The product is described and tested with a rotary polisher. If you use a DA, keep in mind the rpm and pressure guidance still applies in principle - start with firmer pressure and a slower setting, then ease off to refine. Results may vary compared to a rotary, and heavier sanding marks may need more passes.

Is this product safe to use before applying a ceramic coating or paint protection film?

Yes. Finish Polish is completely silicone-free, which means it will not contaminate the surface or interfere with the adhesion of ceramic coatings, sealants, or PPF. Still carry out a full decon and IPA wipedown after polishing before any coating application.

What paint defects will Finish Polish actually remove?

It is rated to remove surface scratches from conveyor tunnel-wash systems, grinding marks and striae left by P2500 sandpaper, and similar light surface wear. With a grinding grade of 6.0 it is a finishing-stage polish, not a cutting compound - deep scratches or heavy oxidation will need a more aggressive product first.

What surfaces is Finish Polish compatible with?

It is formulated for painted surfaces on passenger cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles - including scratch-resistant transparent clear coats. Do not use on bare metal, plastic trim, glass or rubber without testing compatibility first.

After polishing, there is a slight haze or veil on the paint. What should I do?

ServFaces specifically addresses this: follow up with Ultra Fine Polish to remove any residual veiling or marks left after the Finish Polish stage. This is a normal part of a two-stage finishing process when working on very scratch-resistant clear coats.

Can I apply Finish Polish in direct sunlight or on a warm panel?

No. Do not apply on hot surfaces and avoid direct sunlight. The product must not be allowed to dry on the surface before you buff it off. Work in a shaded environment with panel temperatures in a comfortable working range, ideally between 15°C and 25°C.

How do I remove the last residue after polishing?

While the product is still workable, wipe residue off with a clean ServFaces microfibre cloth. The remaining polish lifts easily at this stage. Do not let it flash dry - dried residue is significantly harder to remove and may require a fresh application to re-wet and lift.
