Frequently asked
How do I apply Soft99 Tire Black Wax?
Work on a clean, dry tyre sidewall. Apply a thin, even layer using a foam tyre applicator or sponge, working the wax into the rubber in circular strokes. Allow it to flash and cure before moving the vehicle. Buff off any excess with a clean microfibre cloth for a neat, even finish.
Can I apply it to wet tyres?
No. The tyre surface needs to be clean and fully dry before application. Moisture under the wax will prevent proper bonding and reduce durability. Wash and dry the tyres thoroughly as part of your decon or wash stage before applying.
How long does the finish last?
Durability depends on driving conditions, wheel exposure to the elements, and how thoroughly the tyre was cleaned before application. In general, expect several weeks of rich colour retention per application under normal use. Two coats on heavily faded tyres will extend the result.
Will it sling onto my painted bodywork or brake callipers?
Once properly cured, the wax-based formula is resistant to slinging. The key is not to overapply - a thin, even coat that is buffed off correctly will cure down to a stable film. Excess product that has not been buffed off is more likely to migrate, so less is more here.
What finish does it leave - matte, satin, or gloss?
Tire Black Wax leaves a natural, deep black finish that sits between matte and satin. It avoids the over-the-top wet look of traditional tyre shine sprays. The result reads as clean and well-maintained rather than dressed.
Is it compatible with coated or treated tyres?
It is designed for standard rubber tyre sidewalls. If your tyres have an existing heavy build-up of dressing products, strip them back first with an APC or dedicated tyre cleaner so the wax can bond to the rubber directly rather than sitting on top of old product.
Can I layer multiple coats for a deeper black?
Yes. On tyres that are significantly faded or oxidised, a second coat applied after the first has cured will deepen the colour further. Allow each coat to fully flash and cure before adding the next. There is no benefit to applying more than two coats in a single session.
Does it protect the rubber as well as colour it?
The wax layer provides a degree of protection against UV exposure and environmental contaminants, which helps slow down the greying and cracking that affects tyre sidewalls over time. It is primarily a cosmetic product, but the protective layer is a genuine bonus for tyre longevity.
