Product Description

Glaco Mist Type is Soft99's spray-application glass water repellent. A few spritzes onto a clean, dry windscreen lay down a durable hydrophobic layer that sends rain sheeting off at motorway speeds, cutting your reliance on wipers in wet conditions.

Ideal for:

- Windscreens and rear screens that need fast protection between full decon details

- Side windows and door mirrors where beading performance matters for visibility

- Detailers doing high-volume work who need a no-fuss glass sealant step

- Daily drivers in high-rainfall areas wanting improved wet-weather visibility

Features

- Mist-spray format means no separate applicator pad required

- Forms a slick, hydrophobic film that repels water and road spray

- Rain sheets off cleanly rather than smearing across the glass

- Reduces wiper blade drag and streaking on treated surfaces

- Compatible with all standard automotive glass, including tinted glass

- Compact bottle suits glove-box storage for top-up applications on the road

Apply to clean, dry glass, allow a brief flash time, then buff lightly with a clean microfibre. For strongest durability apply two coats. Treated glass feels noticeably slicker and water will bead tightly or sheet completely depending on vehicle speed.

Questions

Frequently asked

How do I apply Glaco Mist Type?

Make sure the glass is clean, decontaminated and completely dry before you start. Mist the product evenly across the glass from about 20-30 cm away, then leave it to flash for 30-60 seconds. Buff off the residue with a clean, dry microfibre cloth using light circular strokes. For best results, apply a second coat immediately after the first is buffed.

What surfaces can I use Glaco Mist Type on?

It is designed for automotive glass - windscreens, rear screens, side windows and door mirrors. Avoid applying it to painted surfaces, plastic trim or rubber seals. It is safe on tinted glass. Do not apply to polycarbonate headlight lenses as the solvents may cause hazing.

How long does the water-repellent effect last?

Under normal daily-driving conditions you can expect the hydrophobic effect to hold for one to three months, depending on how often the vehicle is washed and what cleaning products are used. Harsh alkaline shampoos will shorten durability. Top up whenever you notice water starting to smear rather than bead or sheet.

Does the glass need to be completely dry before application?

Yes. Any moisture on the glass during application will dilute the product and prevent it from bonding properly. Work in a shaded area or indoors if possible. If the glass has just been washed, dry it thoroughly with a clean microfibre drying towel before applying Glaco Mist Type.

Can I use this on top of an existing glass coating or sealant?

You can top up with Glaco Mist Type over an existing Glaco or compatible glass sealant layer as long as the surface is clean. If you are working over a fully cured nano-glass coating, test in a small area first - some coatings benefit from the additional layer, but others can become uneven if the base coat is not properly clean.

How many applications will one bottle give me?

Coverage depends on glass area and how many coats you apply, but a single bottle will typically treat the front and rear windscreens of two to four vehicles with a two-coat application. Side windows and mirrors use less product per panel, so the bottle stretches further if you are only treating those areas.

Will Glaco Mist Type cause wiper blade chatter or smearing?

A freshly treated windscreen may cause slight wiper noise until the coating fully settles, which is normal. Run your wipers a few times on their first use after application. Properly applied and fully buffed Glaco actually reduces wiper drag over time because the glass surface stays cleaner and slicker. Smearing usually means the product was not fully buffed off during application.

At what temperature or weather conditions should I apply this?

Apply at temperatures between roughly 5°C and 35°C. Avoid applying in direct harsh sunlight on hot glass, as the product can flash too quickly and leave streaks that are difficult to buff. Cold glass can also slow bonding. Working in the shade with glass at or near ambient temperature gives the most consistent result.

Rain hits the windscreen and just rolls straight off, even at lower speeds in traffic. Two coats made a noticeable difference compared to the single-coat result I tried first.

Buffing needs a bit of attention - if you leave it too long before wiping it gets streaky. Get the timing right and the finish is clean and clear with solid beading.

Ordered through Detailer SA and the packaging arrived intact with no leaks. Sprayed both front and rear screens, and the first proper rainstorm afterwards was a good reminder of why I bother with glass sealant at all.
Nomvula P. Verified buyer
Simple enough to use mid-detail without breaking your workflow. Slick, clear finish and water sheets off the door windows cleanly - mirrors especially make a difference in the wet.
