Questions
Frequently asked
Which surfaces is Koch-Chemie Metal Polish safe to use on?
It is formulated for bare metal and chrome surfaces - think exhaust tips, chrome trim, polished steel and brightwork. It is NOT suitable for aluminium or anodised strips, so keep it away from those surfaces.
Can I use this on painted surfaces?
No. This product is designed specifically for metal and chrome. For painted panels, use an appropriate paint polish or compound instead.
How do I apply Koch-Chemie Metal Polish?
Apply a small amount to a clean microfibre towel and work it into the surface with light pressure using circular or straight strokes. Follow up with a separate clean, soft microfibre cloth to buff off the residue and reveal the gloss.
Can it be used with a machine polisher?
Koch-Chemie recommends hand application with a microfibre towel. If you do use a machine, use a very low speed setting and a soft foam pad, and test on a small area first - the product is intended for light polishing rather than heavy correction.
Does it remove heavy rust or only light surface rust?
It is effective on surface rust and light oxidation. Severe pitting or deep rust corrosion will require mechanical treatment or a dedicated rust converter before polishing.
How long does the protective finish last?
The protective layer it leaves is a maintenance-level finish rather than a long-term sealant. For surfaces exposed to heat or weather, regular reapplication is recommended to maintain the gloss and beading behaviour.
Can I layer a wax or sealant over it after polishing?
Yes. Once you have buffed off the polish residue, the surface is clean and ready. You can apply a compatible metal wax or sealant over the top for added durability if needed.
How much product do I need per application?
A small amount goes a long way on most metal surfaces. A pea-sized amount per section is typically sufficient - work in manageable areas and buff off before moving on.
